Stephen Humphreys
Stephen Humphreys is a longtime volunteer serving Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, where his courage and commitment earned him the Navalny Medal from Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Legion. Drawing on more than 20 years as a criminal prosecutor, U.S. Senate investigator, and attorney who uncovered Russian mafia and intelligence operations in the United States, Stephen answered a personal call to help defend freedom in Ukraine. His work has included documenting Russian war crimes in Bucha and Irpin, advising Ukrainian government and military partners, supporting humanitarian aid efforts, teaching law and history at Ukrainian universities, and helping establish Ukraine Studies programs at U.S. institutions. Stephen also speaks widely in the United States, hosts Ukrainian delegations, and uses photography and firsthand testimony to educate the public about the human cost of the war, including an exhibition shown in the Ukrainian Parliament and supported by the Office of the President of Ukraine. Currently, he is pioneering legal frameworks to hold the Russian state and individual perpetrators accountable for war crimes, religious persecution, and the abduction of Ukrainian children. Stephen has carried out this dangerous and demanding work for nearly four years entirely as a volunteer, often at his own expense. Arise Again is proud to support Stephen’s efforts and invites donors to help sustain this vital work defending freedom, human dignity, and justice in Ukraine.
